About the North Shore Overlord
THE NORTH SHORE OVERLORD IS A MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE UNLIKE ANY OTHER. For one, the course utilizes some of the most technically demanding trails anywhere. Mt. Fromme is the birthplace of North Shore free-riding, and boasts steep chutes, rugged natural terrain, and whacky man-made obstacles. Rider skill rules the day. Fitness and speed are a given.
SECONDLY, THE OVERLORD IS IN STARK CONTRAST WITH “POINT A TO POINT B” RACES. There is no finish line. Using flaikTM GPS tracking technology, racers’ progress will be monitored over a period of time (6 hours) and riders are free to choose their own adventure. We provide the GPS / GSM tags for tracking, and racers will ride their choice of trails, going with familiarity or entering the unknown. Racers’ location and progress will broadcast in real time via the world wide web.
FINALLY, THERE ARE MULTIPLE WAYS TO WIN.
1. Accumulate the most mileage in 6 hours.
2. Post the fastest time in any of our Races-Within-The-Race:
The Race Face Super D (7th, Leppard, Krinkum, Cedar, and Griffen)
The Clif Bar Hill Climb (Warden Trail between the 4th and 5th switchbacks)
The Drift Innovation Downhill (on Floppy Bunny)
The Cove Bike Top Speed (wherever the top speed of the day happens)
The Swagman Big Ring Rip (on the flat stretch of Mt. Highway between 2nd and 3rd switchback)
THIS YEAR WE’VE ADDED A SOLO CATEGORY, with distinctions for age and gender, as well as the option to enter as a corporate team of 3 to 5 riders. Also new this year, awards will be presented to competitors according to age and gender in the solo category. As before, the corporate champions take home the coveted Overlord Black Jersey.
