How The Copa Star Is A New Type Of Luxury Hospital

An exclusive hospital has opened in Rio De Janeiro, one that combines the luxury of a five-star hotel with that of a medical facility featuring highly trained staff and state of the art technology. It’s a new type of hospital, built and operated by the Brazilian hospital chain Rede D’Or São Luiz, and is the first of its kind in Brazil. The Copa Star hospital is located in Copacabana and is right beside the beach. Read more at Scoopnest about Copa Star.

The Copa Star has seven floors and features a Smart Hospitality system which incorporates automation throughout the building. Patients are provided with an iPad which allows them to do a number of things not possible in other hospitals. This includes an app which allows video interaction with their doctors as well as requesting a nurse visit their room. They can also use apps to control their beds, room blinds, as well as control the level of lighting in their rooms.

Construction of the Copa Star was started in 2013 and was completed in late 2016. It cost over R $400 million and was built as a luxury alternative for the citizens of Rio de Janiero. Before the hospital was completed, many procedures and surgeries that residents of this city needed required them to travel to other cities such as São Paulo. The Founder and President of Rede D’Or São Luiz, Dr. Jorge Moll, said that they have combined quality care, extremely complex surgery, and luxury accommodations at the Copa Star in a way that hasn’t been done before. He added that the services they provide are personalized and exclusive.

Other features of the Copa Star that are included so as to comfort patients is an internal aromatization system which replaces the normal smells of a hospital with fresh, relaxing scents. Additionally, artwork is on display throughout the Copa Star, with 231 pieces that were designed by Japanese artist Yutaka Toyota.

In order to perform highly complex surgeries, the Hospital Copa Star has smart surgical rooms which include robotics that help surgeons perform surgeries. The neurosurgery rooms have the most advanced technology such as integrated magnetic resonance machines. The doctors, nurses, and medical staff have been trained to international standards and have received additional training in order to meet the exacting standards of care needed at the Copa Star.

The Copa Star accepts all forms of payment, including cash and credit cards. It also accepts health insurance plans, although theses plans have to feature the premium flag in order to be accepted. The successful launch of the Copa Star has led to this concept being pursued in other Brazilian cities such as Brasilia and São Paulo. View the design at rafarquitetura.com.

  1. So awesome to have this facility with state of the art in Rio, i am so much impressed. As reviewed by assignment writing, the iPad provided for each patient added another credit to the hospital as it is very difficult to find any. This hospital with five star hotel has been made to accomodate everyone with their features such as accepting both credit card and cash.
