Dr. Richard Shinto is the President and CEO of InnovaCare, Inc. He’s also the CEO of InnovaCare’s Health Plans in Puerto Rico. Prior to joining InnovaCare, Dr. Shinto was President and CEO of Aveta Inc. until its sale in 2012. He has had a long career working with some of the best management teams in the country.
Throughout his career, Dr. Shinto has also worked at some of the top managed care facilities across the United States. He’s served and COO and Chief Medical Officer for Medical Pathways Management Company and NAMM. Prior to that, he was Corporate VP of Medical Management at MedPartners for a year. He began his medical tenure as an internist and pulmonologist in Southern California.
He has more than 20 years of experience in clinical and operational healthcare management. He as a B.S. from the University of California, a medical degree from the State University of New York, and an MBA from the University of Redlands. He’s also an accomplished author of numerous health care and clinical medicine articles.
The Chief Administrative Officer of InnovaCare, Inc. is Penelope Kokkinides. Ms. Kokkinides has worked for InnovaCare before but left to pursue other ventures. She rejoined the company in 2015. During her years away from InnovaCare, she served as Executive VP and COO for Centerlight Healthcare. Some of her greatest accomplishments occurred while working for smaller companies. At Centerlight, she was responsible for the management and strategic direction of the company’s entire managed care division. She also worked at AmeriChoice as Corporate VP for Care Management and Disease Management. Penelope Kokkinides played a significant role in the development and implementation of the company’s current health model.
Her contributions to InnovaCare stem from her 20-plus-years of experience. She specializes in government programs like Medicare and Medicaid. She’s also experienced in the development of clinical programs and managing health care processes and operations. Her expertise centers on improving efficiencies and organizational infrastructure.
